Colorado Bans Mike Tyson’s Ear-Shaped Edibles

A few weeks ago, former professional boxer Mike Tyson launched one of the most hilarious and true-to-brand edible gummies we’ve ever seen. 

The infamous “Mike Bites” from his cannabis company, Tyson 2.0, were aptly shaped like an ear with a bite taken out, a tasty and psychoactive tribute to his ’97 rematch against Evander Holyfield that ended with Tyson biting a chunk of Holyfield’s ear off. 

When the gummies launched in March, Tyson 2.0 announced they would be available in California, Nevada, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Michigan. 

However, Colorado smacked back and banned the ear-shaped edibles from selling throughout the state. According to MARCA, Colorado introduced a law in 2016 that bans all cannabis-infused edibles from resembling human features to steer kids off from wanting to snack on them. 

It’s quite interesting to see Colorado enact a law like this, considering it was the first state to legalize recreational cannabis. However, because Colorado threw itself into the weed-smelling fires, perhaps a precautionary law was essential to ensure that adults keep their marijuana products far from minors’ accessibility.

Now, MARCA notes that Tyson 2.0 will continue selling “Mke Bites” in Colorado but will change the shape to a letter “T” instead of an ear.

‘Iron Mike’ is a proud cannabis advocate, attesting that the marijuana plant could have helped his anger issues and even matches in the ring if he picked it up years ago.

An interview with Yahoo Finance sees Tyson explaining, “I was fighting with everybody. If someone asked me for an autograph, I’d punch them in the face. I was just a mess, and then after I retired, I started smoking.”

He added, “I should have smoked when I was fighting because it put me in this different state of mind. I’m very relaxed, and the more relaxed you are, the better fighter you are, at least in my case.”
